My name is William Hutchings.  I am a Retired Police Lieutenant with over 26 years of dedicated service to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department(LVMPD).  Prior to LVMPD, I served two Combat Tours as a U.S. Marine Decorated with a Navy Commendation with a Combat "V" for Valor.
  
Following my military service, I joined LVMPD serving the Las Vegas Community where I spent the majority of my career in investigative, undercover, and operational capacities.  I have worked in Patrol, Field Training, Property Crimes, Sexual Assault, and Violent Crimes In Robbery/Homicide as an Officer and Detective.

Promoting to Sergeant, I led an Undercover Auto Theft Unit called Viper, I then transferred back to Violent Crimes in Robbery/Homicide where I also oversaw Cold Case Homicide-Sexual Assault.  After nearly seven years, I transferred to The Las Vegas FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force, supervising complex RICO Cases and Bank Robberies. 
 
I was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to the Convention Center Area Command covering the Las Vegas Strip.  I spent the last six years of my career as the Swing Shift Commander.  I developed and implemented the Field Training Program on the Strip, Supervised Patrol, Detectives, Bike Units, and Enforcement Teams. 
  
 Academically, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, and a Master's Degree in Leadership in Law Enforcement and Public Safety from the University of San Diego. I possess multiple Nevada POST Certifications including POST Management, Intermediate, and Advanced Certificates; as well as being a POST Certified Instructor.  Additionally, I served as an LVMPD Defensive Tactics Instructor for 14 years.  

My extensive investigative background encompasses both detective and supervisory roles. I have led organizational reorganization efforts and startup projects within law enforcement settings. As Swing Shift Commander, I conducted and reviewed numerous use-of-force investigations while supervising over 100 officers. I have also collaborated closely with major casino properties, working with management and heads of security on security initiatives and special projects to address their security concerns.
